Delbert Scott Obituary

         Delbert Lee Scott, 81, of Dillsboro, IN, passed away January 26, 2021, in Lawrenceburg, IN, due to complications from COVID-19.

         He was born on December 22, 1939, at his family’s home in Dillsboro, IN, where he remained a life-long resident. Son of the late Leroy Scott and Neva (nee Philpot) Scott. He was married to Joan (Nee Maher) for nearly 37 years.

        Delbert was an active member of the Washington Baptist Church. He retired in 2003 after 45 years as a security guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who shared his passion for hunting and fishing with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Delbert treated everyone with respect and loved to care for animals, especially Labradors. Delbert was a longtime member of Laughery Valley Fish and Game Club. He was a true friend to many.

        He is survived by his wife, Joan, his brother Jim (Kay) Scott, sister Joy Lundt, daughter Kim (Jamie Lemmon) Scott, sons Todd Scott and Troy (Stacey) Scott, stepchildren Kim (Nick) Schmidt, Jeff (Lindsay) Berding, Michael (Susan) Berding, Greg Berding, and Karen (Fred) Cox, as well as 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Billie (nee Armstrong) Scott.

       A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Washington Baptist Church located at 5496 US-50, Dillsboro, IN 47018. A  service will follow immediately after at 11 AM. Memorials in honor of Delbert may be made to Laughery Valley Fish and Game Protective Association, c/o Ed Sellers (treasurer), 9662 State Road 350, Aurora, IN 47001.
