Michael "Mike" Collins Obituary

Michael “Mike” Stanley Collins, 79, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, April 4, 2022. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Sunday, January 3, 1943; son of Thomas and Lillian (McGuinn) Collins. Mike attended Elder High School and proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Long Beach. He married his loving wife, Stephanie Brennan, on November 26, 1962. Mike was a former member of St. Pius Catholic Church and presently a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was very involved in his community, serving on the parish council for St. Pius and St. Charles Catholic Churches and held the office of President for the men’s fraternity at St. Charles, as well as serving as Eucharistic Minister, and being a member of the Sunman American Legion Post #337. He retired from Queen City Metro 19 years ago, after a 32-year career there, moving up the ranks in building maintenance and management. Mike and Stephanie have lived on their beautiful farm in Manchester for 45 years where they have raised cows, pigs, and chickens. Mike enjoyed farming and going to flea markets and antique stores, where he was always hunting for the next great bargain. He always had a project (or 5) to work on and enjoyed many hobbies including cutting firewood, which the rest of the family never understood. He was smart, kind, thoughtful, generous, hardworking, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his soulmate and beautiful wife of 60 years, Stephanie Collins of Milan; his children Bill (Lori) Collins of Milan, Debbie (Dave) Kemper of Manchester, Jo Crouse of Greenwood, and Sarah (Matt) Hoff of Milan; sister Sandy Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lillian, and his oldest son, Thomas Edward Collins.
